Trusted, Family-Friendly Optometric Care in Great Falls, MT
Vision Care Clinic was originally established by Dr. James Payne in 1954. For almost 40 years, Dr. Payne and his team provided individuals and families from Great Falls, MT and surrounding communities with personalized optometry and eye care services. Dr. Payne practiced until 1991, when Dr. Robert Sherer took over the practice.
Dr. Robert J. Sherer
Dr. Sherer was born and raised in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High in 1981. He continued his education at MSU Bozeman from 1982 to 1987 and graduated with a B.S. in Business Management. He took summer courses and finished the 2 ½ years of chemistry, physics, and biology credits with a 4.0 GPA to be accepted into the WICHE Scholarship Program for Optometry. He was accepted into Pacific University Optometry Program and spent 4 years in Portland Oregon finishing the program for an Optometric Doctorate.
After graduating in 1991 and passing the National Boards, Dr. Sherer bought Dr. James Payne’s solo practice. Dr. Sherer has spent 25+ years practicing optometry at Vision Care Clinic.
Dr Sherer is also one of the founding owners of Kenetrek Boots in Bozeman, Montana. He has always enjoyed being involved in business and has thoroughly enjoyed this endeavor into an international company related to his outdoor interests.
Dr. Sherer is an avid hunter and fisherman, with his favorite sports being archery and tournament walleye fishing. He has been fortunate to finish a rifle Grand Slam of North American Sheep and is presently working on an archery Grand Slam. He enjoys fly fishing, freshwater and saltwater both, and has landed Tarpon and Sailfish on a fly. Dr. Sherer couldn’t imagine living anywhere else and loves spending time with his wife and 2 girls in the Last Best Place.
Nikki
Nikki was raised in Great Falls and has 3 fantastic children!
Nikki loves every aspect of working at Vision Care Clinic. Some days you can find her helping take patients back to exam rooms and with special testing. You are most likely to see her in our optical department helping people find their next amazing pair or pairs of glasses with the best lens options for each individual’s personal needs. Ginger
Ginger grew up on a small farm in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She spent much of her childhood in the 4-H program as a member and junior leader. She held many 4-H, Rodeo and Leadership titles and awards, showing pride in every activity she has participated in. In her off time, Ginger loves being with family, especially her daughter Leann. She volunteers with 4-H, PTA, and GFFSC. She continues to ride and show horses, among her many other hobbies.
Ginger went on to college to earn her diploma in Executive Office Administration. She met her husband, Lowell, in 1994 and became an Air Force wife. Upon being transferred to Minot AFB, ND she began working in a small optical shop in 1999. In November 2000, she tested for and passed her ABO Certification. She has continued her work in the optical field as a Certified Optician since. Her passion for helping patients find their perfect pair of glasses makes her an exceptional optician. She is skilled in repairs and adjustments to serve our patients.
