Eye Exams

Eye exams are important for people of all ages, as changes can occur at any time. Comprehensive eye exams help us to monitor gradual changes and catch any health-related issues before they grow into larger problems. During these exams, we check intraocular pressure, check for all signs of eye disease, including glaucoma, and determine if a prescription is necessary. We encourage all patients to schedule annual eye exams.

Foreign Body Removal

Injuries from foreign bodies can range from minor to severe. No matter the size, foreign bodies can enter the eye and affect the conjunctiva (the mucous membrane that covers the white part of the eye) or cornea (the protective covering) and require an immediate call to the doctor. We recommend wearing protective eyewear while mowing, edging, sawing, and completing other outdoor activities to prevent injury. This is an easy way to prevent debris from getting into your eye.

Glaucoma Treatments

Glaucoma develops gradually over many years and has very subtle, painless symptoms, which is why it’s important to schedule regular exams.

This disease affects the optic nerve – the cable between the brain and the eye. As pressure rises in the eye, it results in the progressive loss of fibers. This can create an inability to adjust eyes to darkened rooms, loss of peripheral vision, and blindness.

Pre & Post Operative Care for Cataracts

Cataracts are when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy, and the vision is distorted and blurry. Patients can also experience double vision. They develop more commonly as we age but can also be caused by smoking, eye injuries, blood pressure, medications, and kidney disease.

It is possible to slow the progression of cataracts. Our doctor will discuss with you if surgery is the best option, and we will provide pre and post-operative care.

Pre & Post Operative Care for Laser Vision Correction

LASIK and other vision corrective surgeries are commonly used to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatisms. Vision corrective surgeries can help reduce your dependence on contacts and glasses because it reshapes the cornea to correct your vision.

Our team will complete an eye exam to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure. After the exam, we will address any questions you may have regarding the process and its results. Once you have undergone the surgery, we will provide post-care services.

Optomap

Dr. Sherer has implemented the Optomap digital screening during your comprehensive annual eye exam.

The Optomap assists him in the evaluation of your retina (located in the back of the eye).

The Optomap detects eye conditions and diseases such as stroke, heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Under normal circumstances, dilation drops might not be needed, but Dr. Sherer will determine whether dilation is necessary depending on the health of your eyes.

For more information regarding the Optomap, visit www.optomap.com.

Automated Visual Fields

The Automated Visual Fields test is used to detect blind spots. The test measures the horizontal and vertical range of your vision and your sensitivity. Blind spots can be a sign of eye disease or an obstruction in the brain. The size and shape of a blind spot offer important clues about the visual structures of your brain, the optic nerve, and your eye health.

OCT Imaging

An optical coherence tomography (OCT) test uses light waves to take a cross-section image of your retina. It allows your optometrist to measure the thickness of each of the retina layers and the optic nerve. Your doctor can properly diagnose and treat retinal diseases and glaucoma with these measurements.

I have nothing but good things to say about Vision Care Clinic. Very professional place, and you always know the doctor and his staff are doing what has to be done for your benefit. I always leave there knowing I’ve just had the best eye exam and that I can trust what I’ve been told.

No-Line Progressive Lenses

It is common to experience a loss in near vision focusing in your early to mid-40s. For most, the easiest solution is bifocals. You can achieve a youthful appearance with no-line progressive lenses because this type of lens eliminates the lines found in traditional bifocals. We are proud to provide our patients with state-of-the-art, high-definition lenses that allow you to read easily without compromising style.

They are very good. The staff is awesome, very professional, and touches on all aspects of the eyes. Very impressive. I have already told several people about my experience with them and told my family to change their eye care provider to this one. I found myself a good fit, and I will continue to be their patient as long as they will have me.
